Before the zipper fly dominated, the trouser featured the fall front where buttons functioned as the clasp.

Utilizing buttons as a closure require more motor skills than using a zipper. In what may seem more laborious and impractical than the modern zipper, there is a certain old-fashioned and artisanal quality about the fall front flap.

In order to retain this quality in a more practical sense, I am reintroducing the outdated system of the fall front to access the inside of the coat without having to unbutton or unzip. It resembles how we reach into the pockets of a suit.

Although I am bringing back the old system of the fly front, the current one is not discarded. Appreciating the mechanical practicality of the zipper, it is featured as part of the collar of the coat. The collar resembles the waistband of the trouser with the zipper working like an extended form of a fly front.

Featuring three welt pockets as well as belt loops on the hand cuffs, this reversible coat additionally appreciates the traditional components of a classic trouser.
